a day filled with waterfalls!

Today there are going to be less stories and more pictures because it was literally all about the waterfalls!

We got up early and had a very nice included breakfast at Hotel Plitvice. 

We then headed down to get an early start on the hike. Plitvice is basically hiking trails (mostly along boardwalks) through scenery filled with waterfalls. There are hundreds of them. Everywhere you look there are just more and more waterfalls. It is impossible to do it justice with words or pictures. Absolutely incredible!  We stopped every 2 seconds to take pictures.  Half way through we said: ok no more pictures. What are we going to do with 1000 water fall pictures?  But then we'd round the corner and see another waterfall and we'd have to pull out the cameras again!

Mid way through the hike we took a boat to a second lake with even better waterfalls. It really was amazing. And the lakes are the most beautiful turquoise colour. And crystal clear. You can see right to the bottom and you can see every little fish swimming by. So cool!

The sounds there were really neat. It would go from the intense rushing sound of a waterfall and the. You would turn a corner and it would be a silent and peaceful little lake. Then you'd start to hear the noise build again as you approached the next waterfall. I also really enjoyed that a lot of the time the boardwalks were built right overtop of the water rushing out from the waterfall. So the water would be rushing by right under your feet. I also just loved how the boardwalk was constructed. It fit perfectly with the surroundings!
