waterfalls part 2
We finished up our waterfall hiking at Plitvice at just afternoon and had a sandwich we had mad with stuff we got at the grocery store. Our final destination today was Split: back on the coast of Croatia (but now in the southern part of the country. It would take us about 3.5 hours to drive to Split. But we wanted to take a little detour!

We weren't waterfalled out quite yet and so we took a slight detour about an hour from Split to Krka National Park. Here they also have some awesome waterfalls, but the amazing thing here is that you can swim at one!
The parking lot was about a 15 minute detour from the highway. From therebwebtook a 10 minute shuttle bus down a narrow, twisty road on the edge of a mountain on a giant bus. Slightly terrifying! Where they dropped us off it was about another 10 minute walk down to the main waterfall (others along the way)
We changed into our bathing suits and went in! It is very rocky and a bit treacherous getting in. Very uneven footing. And the current from the waterfall makes it hard to stand without being a bit. Tippy. The water was cold but not freezing. We probably stayed in for 25 minutes.
It was so fun! The current was reall strong. It was a challenge to get out to the buoy line. You could literally swim in place if you didn't use full swimming power ! We watched a guy swim in place for about 10 minutes not was like a swimming treadmill. You really had to work to get out to the buoy line. Once you were there you could grab onto it and the water would try to push you back to shore so it felt really neat to just float there with the water rushing past you!

After the waterfall we got what they call a kebob but is more like a shawarma pitta (at a food stand in the parking lot where we parked the car).

Then we drove the rest of the way to Split. Dropping off our rental car was easy and our AirBNB was very close by. Mirror is our host and he is super friendly. They left us a bottle of their family's homemade wine and he said if we want more they have tons. Just knock on his door and he will refill it for us! He also left 3 bottles of different types of homemade schnapps! He showed us everything in the room and then took us up to the roof terrace and spent 15 minutes showing us on the map where things were around town and pointing them out to us from the terrace. We now know the best bakery, pizza place, grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, bars, breakfast places, etc! He was very friendly.

I cannot tell you how cool our terrace is! We weren't too hungry sfternor kebob earlier so we walked to the market and picked up some beer and snacks and breakfast stuff for the next couple of days and we came right back up onto the terrace. And we've been sitting here drinking wine and wnjoying the view for a couple of hours. We are going to head in soon so we can be up at a good time to enjoy tomorrow in Split!
